Reflecting in October with your children

September hits us fast. The temperature is typically still high, but the lazy long days of summer have evolved into shorter days filled with school and after school activities.

It is a great time to stop and make sure of the following:

A) Has your child settled into school socially, academically and emotionally?

B) If your child requires assistance in any of the above-mentioned areas October is a key month to act on this assistance before matters get more complicated for your child. Don’t be afraid to check in with teachers and coaches to get their opinion of how your child is adjusting to fall 2022.

C) Quietly reflecting on how your child’s summer was in October can be very helpful.

          a) Additional or more information may come out when your child has additional time and space from summer to reflect on whatever activities they participated in.

          b) This information can be used to guide the following summers plans or the need to adjust and research other options. Remember, summer camps and programs fill up fast so waiting can limit your desired options.

It may seem early to focus on the above areas but fall moves fast and October is not too early to make sure all is running smoothly in your child’s life. Every school year bring new and unique adjustments. Reflection and present data is key to keeping your child on track.
