Getting Ready to go Back to School

Going back to school after a summer break can be tough for both parents and students. Everyone has spent time at camp, family vacations and at the beach. Schedules, routines, and homework haven’t been on anyone’s mind. But it’s time to get ready to go back to school and to make it easier, we’ve identified some tips to make the transition easier.

Have a consistent routine:

Over the summer it's common to go to bed late and sleep in on the mornings. But now that school is restarting, you will have to wake up earlier than you do during the summer. It’s important to get back on a schedule for the school year. Start getting into your new daily routine before the start of school. Practice going to bed at a reasonable hour and waking up early. The more consistent you make your routine, the easier it will be to make it into habit.

Get ready the night before:

Trying to find the perfect outfit for school or making breakfast or lunch for the day can take up a lot of time and stress during your morning routine. Try to pick out your outfit, pack your bags and figure out your meals the night before. It will save you a lot of time and energy in the mornings and even help prevent you from being late to work or school.

Finding a good workspace:

Finding a creative and appropriate place to do work is very important. Find somewhere with good lighting and make sure there are minimum distractions. This space should be somewhere that is warm and welcoming with all the material you will need so you don’t need to keep getting up to get things.

Make a to-do list:

Create a list of the things you will need to prepare and get prior to the start of the school year. Creating a list will help you stay on task and organized. You can continue to use your to-do list during the school year as well to help prioritize what needs to get done.
