In every relationship the newlywed phase eventually phases out and reality hits. The person who used to bring you joy and happiness now makes you feel angry and unappreciated. In order to get back on track, you need to speak their love language. Below are the five different methods of love communication to help strengthen your relationship.

Words of Affirmation

For some people, they feel most loved with words of affirmation. This can be written or verbal compliments to show your partner that you value them. This can be done through prompts or unexpectedly through praise and recognition.

Quality Time

Quality time and getting a partners full and undivided attention can be what matters most for some individuals. This allows them to feel valued and prioritized. Being able to put away distractions such as computers, cell phones or the TV, can help many people truly focus on being present with one another. Being able to genuinely show that you are interested in what your partner is saying is quality time love language.

Receiving Gifts

Receiving both big and small gifts can show someone you are thinking of them, keep in mind it is the thought that counts. The gift can be handmade, or store bought. Tokens of love can be received on more than just special occasions because receiving something tangible can make a person feel loved.

Acts of Service

Some people feel that actions speak louder than words. Seeing your partner do things, may make you feel loved. This type of thoughtfulness can be shown through actions; by not complaining, you are showing your partner the acts of service love language.

Physical Touch

Physical touch can be shown by holding hands, hugging, kissing or receiving a massage. Preferable areas of touch will vary person by person as everyone has different areas that they find pleasurable. Sometimes your partners physical presence can show the physical touch love language.

Everyone has a love language and if you want to improve your relationship, do it in the way that matters the most to your partner.
