Tips for Conquering Those Winter Blues

Those gloomy winter days often make us want to hibernate in bed all day long. Anxiety levels

rise as the days get darker and feel longer. Getting out of bed and motivated to start our day

can feel very overwhelming. Below are some comforting tips and helpful tools to cope with the

winter blues.

Get Natural Light

Override that feeling of staying in bed and cozying up with your blanket by letting in natural

light. Increasing the natural light in your bedroom and home will help increase your overall

mood. Make it a consistent part of your morning routine!

Get Moving

A great way to get your natural light is to go for daily walks. This will help awaken your body

and increase your overall mood. Being consistent will help you start to look forward to waking

up and starting your day!

Stay Hydrated

During these cold winter months, many of us drink less amounts of water. It is important to

make it a part of your daily routine by keeping water by your bed and with you when we’re on

the go. Planning ahead will help increase the likelihood of getting the appropriate amount of

daily water intake.

Deep Breathing

Being in the present can be difficult when you are distracted by those winter blues. Remember

to breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. This will help you restart and

return to your daily responsibilities.

Be Mindful

Taking care of yourself can be difficult, especially during the winter months. Be kind to yourself

and remember to take small steps each day to take care of your needs. Be kind to your mind.
